The saying “Fall in love with Autumn” may be clichéd but I truly think this year we have. It started with a bright sunny Sunday morning in October when outside looked so inviting with the colours of the trees turning to wonderful colours of reds, oranges and browns that I shouted to the family, “get your wellies on we’re going for a walk”.
A friend had recently mentioned a woods in our neighbourhood, so that’s where we headed and it was just minutes from our home. The woods were picturesque, with a little café that can only be described as a ‘hidden treasure’. The children enjoyed a hot chocolate with all the trimmings and we set off for our walk. There was plenty of nature to admire from little birds to squirrels venturing across our path. The leaves were falling from the trees and made for wonderful moments watching the boys jumping and crunching in them. We even stumbled upon a small stone bridge with a little stream and had a game of ‘Pooh sticks’. Further up stream there was a waterfall. Amazing that you can live somewhere and not even realise what’s on your doorstep! We had such fun that Sunday morning that walks are now “our thing” and makes for great family time.
The season wouldn’t be complete without pumpkins and until recently we’d not heard of “pumpkin picking”. I know, where have we been?! We found a fruit farm and headed off. What a place, what an experience, what fun! and therein began a new family tradition.
And so the purpose of this post…put your wellies on, go outdoors, discover great places, make memories and start new traditions.
