This week we have been asked to review an ethically produced, handcrafted toy called Luna the Lion. We were very generously gifted the toy by the company What I’d love for the purpose of this review but the opinions expressed are entirely my own and based on Tiggy’s reaction to and interaction with Luna the Lion.
By way of introduction, “What I’d love” are an online wish list gift service who’s aim is to minimise the waste of unwanted goods, and to save people time and money, making buying a present easy for any occasion. It’s a free service and has been in existence since 2007. People can add gifts and items from anywhere and share them with friends and family so they can buy them exactly what they’d love.
Luna the Lion comes from a Hampshire based business called Lazy Lizards which is a business with strong eco credentials. Their website states “Smiles are inevitable when people first encounter the beautiful goods, ethically produced and hand crafted in Sri Lanka by Barefoot Ceylon…Each item is unique and no two exactly the same”. You can read more about Barefoot Ceylon and how these goods are produced by clicking on the link within this text.
It’s not so much soft but textured which I think is what has held Tiggy’s attention and has been her attraction to the toy. The tail in particular has what I’d describe as a “frayed tassel” at the end of it, the texture of which is very soft and Tiggy has run this through her little fingers over and over this week.
Tiggy has spent the week playing with Luna primarily as I gave it to her to enable me to write this review but Tiggy has taken a real shine to Luna and has taken her everywhere we’ve been this week including to a picnic with friends, walks here, there and everywhere in her pram, a sightseeing trip to some beautiful gardens and into our own garden too as the weather has been so nice.
I’m sure Luna won’t be a “one week wonder” but “a keeper” for Tiggy as she seems to have enjoyed playing with her and at one point I’m sure was even having a conversation with Luna at which Tiggy babbled on for the longest she has to date which was incredibly sweet to watch. With hindsight I wish I’d filmed her and albeit not quite the same, I did capture the moment in a photograph.
In conclusion, Luna the Lion, has made Tiggy smile, giggle and babble, held her attention, which as anyone knows with a young baby is no easy task and against the background of how Luna is made makes this little lion a rather special little toy. Tiggy seems to have loved it and it’s certainly made me smile to see her happy especially when she sat babbling to Luna. A big thumbs up from us and a big thank you to “What I’d Love”.
