This week saw a trip to London to experience The White Company’s press preview “#mywhitechristmas” and Christmas in July was truly wonderful.
I wondered whether to take Tiggy (given this is her blog) to this evening and thought better of it, but once there immediately wished I had.
Their winter range of candles won’t fail to set the mood for Christmas because as I crossed the road towards The White Company, the smell of Christmas emanating from the store was delectable! I instantly felt Christmassy despite it being July.
Once inside, the scene was certainly set for the most perfect Christmas and was glamorous, elegant, beautiful yet most certainly embodied a sense of Christmas at “Home”. The candles, the décor, everything was utterly gorgeous and it was all I could do not to ask them to let me take everything home with me. I wanted it all!
When I picture Christmas I have a vision of warmth, cosiness, comfort, gorgeousness and The White Company managed to capture it all in their store this evening.
Given this blog is centred around Tiggy I was shown to their baby and children section initially and wow! Beautiful. Everything was just lovely. There was a “girl” and a “boy” bed setting with the most gorgeous beds made from trees and covered in fairy lights. The bedding, the bedtime clothing, slippers and toys were all picture perfect and I know that Tiggy and her older brothers would have been in their element amongst this setting. It was pretty but smart too and had the most wonderful Christmassy feel about it. There’s always something magical about Christmas and the scene that presented itself to me in this section was most definitely magical.
Complete with Christmas cookies and carrots left for Santa and his reindeer upon a small sled to the twinkly lights and Christmas tree with wonderful decorations I soon forgot about it being July and was transported to Christmas.
I met some fabulous people this evening, Peter Robinson Head of Press and Events, who was just fabulous and I enjoyed chatting with him about their range of children’s items and clothing and Barbara Horspool, Clothing Director at The White Company who was so friendly and lovely and captured for me, my family ethos entirely, of wanting children to be children and enjoying their childhood with all the traditions that I hold dear. Barbara has written a children’s book for The White Company called “A Christmas Wish” with the sweetest little characters “Snowy” and “Lumi” with these characters brought to life for little ones in the form of soft toys. The book was projected onto a screen and I stood and watched for a while knowing that Tiggy, her brothers too, will absolutely love this story especially the magic of it read to them on Christmas Eve.
The White Company have thought of everything for children for the perfect Chritmas right down to their “lounge wear” range which is so cute. Their clothing too for the season was to die for and I am almost wishing Tiggy’s months away wanting to see her in their gorgeous outfits and ruffled skirt that hung against a pretty wooden backdrop.
There were plenty of accessories for Christmas too, The White Company having thought of everything including stockings, a count down calendar to the big day, letters to Santa and a range of gift items, each equally gorgeous.
This evening there were wonderful ladies placing calligraphy onto fabulous Christmas baubles and onto one they kindly wrote Tiggy’s name and gift wrapped it beautifully for her. I gave it to her the following morning, a little afraid she may break it given it’s glass but wanted to see her little face as she opened the box and it was like Christmas had come early, she was so excited as I gave her the box which we opened together and I know already that this coming Christmas is going to be extra special as Tiggy will be a little older. Whilst not appreciating what Christmas is about Tiggy will no doubt feed off her brother’s excitement, mine too, and if her reaction to opening this little box is anything to go by it’s going to be a wonderful time made all the more so by the gorgeous items that I am now going to have to have from The White Company.
I’m incredibly grateful to have been invited to this evening, for the kindness and time taken to speak with me by the staff there and in particular Peter and Barbara who I felt absolutely privileged to have spent time in the company of and enjoyed speaking with, and the generosity of The White Company too for the bauble for Tiggy and the Winter Candle given to me to bring home which will forever remind me of this evening as it is the smell that greeted me as I walked towards the store and will be burning in our home over this coming Christmas, if I can wait that long to light it!
I was a huge fan of The White Company before this evening but am even more so now for all of the reasons outlined above. The White Company have certainly got Christmas 2016 spot on.
