The White Company asked this week* if we’d like to try their new Signature Autumn candle and it arrived the morning we were heading off on a family “glamping” trip which was perfect as I was looking for a candle to take with us, talk about perfect timing! Thank you The White Company xoxo
I hurriedly opened the elegant White Company packaging to take a look and the wonderful scent of this candle was obvious before I had even opened the box. It’s a gloriously floral and fruity scent, a crisp combination of pear, quince and apricot blended with musk, amber and woods. Absolutely gorgeous!
We packed up our candle, headed off and that evening as the sun was setting I lit the Autumn candle whilst sat watching the sunset with a glass of prosecco, even when glamping a girl has to have a few “home comforts” and this candle from The White Company is certainly one of them.
Whilst on our family trip we visited Wells, and as we walked through a pretty park with the leaves falling from the trees in the wind, I exclaimed to my husband that this would be the perfect Autumnal setting to take a picture of my White Company candle which then saw me race back to our car, retrieve the candle and begin placing it in the leaves only to think that I should light it.
As a non smoker without any form of lighting the candle this proved to be the beginning of much hilarity and typically every person who passed was also a non-smoker. Wondering what to do I decided to go buy some matches or a lighter, packaged the candle back up and walked back towards the shops. It seemed everything was conspiring against me as each shop, even a gift shop didn’t sell any form of lighter for the candle and eventually I found a little cook shop and bought an industrial strength (or so it seemed) kitchen appliance lighter! I tore back to the park with all the wonderful dry crunchy leaves only for the heavens to open!
The only saving grace was that there were areas sheltered by the trees but the winds were also picking up so trying to light the candle wasn’t easy and once lit trying to keep it alight was also not easy in the winds. To add to my woes the park had been deserted initially save for the odd non-smoking passer by, but now it seemed like the whole of Wells had congregated here so trying to get a picture of my wonderful candle with a beautiful backdrop of an area full of leaves was proving almost impossible! At this point my husband, Tiggy and her brothers abandoned me and went to sit in the car out of the rain ready to leave!
I stayed in the park a little longer insistent that after all this effort to take a picture I wasn’t leaving without one and eventually managed to take a few between some very odd looks from people passing by at my crouching down to the leaves on the floor! It was comical and I was giggling to myself at how ridiculous I must look let alone to those passing who had absolutely no clue as to what I was doing! I did however get talking to a few of the passers-by whilst scouting around for a lighter so my candle was definitely a conversation starter! haha!!
And so in conclusion the Autumn candle from The White Company is absolutely heavenly, the scent certainly invokes a sense of Autumn and wanting to curl up with a flickering flame, whether in front of a beautiful sunset or at home but preferably not in open parkland in the wind and rain!
