Last week saw Tiggy and I take a road trip to Harrogate having been invited to attend Bettys Christmas Range Preview and their #MagicalBettys
Tuesday 8th November we were up, dressed and on the road by 7:30am full of excitement to be spending the afternoon at Bettys and full of expectation and delicious anticipation at what wonders were in store for us.
This was Bettys first Yorkshire blogger event and I felt tremendously privileged to have been invited so a huge thank you to the lovely people at Bettys for our invitation which as you can see was in itself utterly gorgeous!
After a long journey to Harrogate we were greeted with everything we had hoped for and more at Bettys! Wow is the word that springs to mind.
From the beautiful shop window displays welcoming us in, all beautifully created by “Head of Beautiful at Bettys” aka Robyn Cox, whom we had the pleasure of sitting with at our Lady Betty Afternoon Tea, although I’m not sure Robyn will return the compliment as how he didn’t end up wearing the pot of jam Tiggy decided to eat is anyone’s guess!…
…To the scene that presented itself to us as we made our way into The Imperial Suite, just simply Wow!
I normally don’t begin to think of Christmas until after Tiggy’s eldest brother’s birthday which is at the end of November but Tiggy and I found ourselves immersed in a most wonderful Christmas scene and setting here at Bettys.
Tiggy was keen to play with the beautiful crafted toys, sample pretty much anything she could get her hands on, play underneath the Christmas tree, even crawling under it and of course touching everything which was totally understandable as it all looked so attractively appealing.
Tiggy being just 17 months old was keen to test out her newly acquired skills at stair climbing and what a beautiful little staircase to climb adorned with gorgeous Christmas decoration.
Tiggy was quite happy to explore as was I, the wonderful room before us.
Lady Betty Afternoon Tea was simply delightful and utterly mouth watering with Tiggy having her own Children’s afternoon tea and a little surprise gift included too which she loved, thank you Bettys. It was most wonderful to know that we were sampling an experience that has been nearly 100 years in the making here at Bettys, and that nearly a century on here we were thoroughly enjoying. If you’re interested in the history of Bettys like me, you can read a little more HERE
The first theme, Christmas Spice, inspired by the scents and smells of Christmas baking and delights something Bettys knows all about given their award-winning mince pies, beautifully iced Christmas cakes and unique continental specialities.
The second theme, Continental Elegance, harking back to their Swiss Heritage with Bettys own chocolate animals, delicious biscuits and the most wonderous of Swiss Alpine Village’s set as the centre piece!
The third theme, Winter Snow, a table set with crisp white linen, shimmering crockery, jingle bells, fresh foliage with garlands, bay leaves and ivy and whilst I adored each table setting this one was my personal favourite.
In addition to all of the above, on display was Bettys range of exceptional gifts, charming stocking fillers, sumptuous gift boxes and hampers with a Christmas present for both Tiggy and I under the glimmering Christmas tree, and as a thank you we were treated to gifts from the shop.
I chose the Bettys Spiced Christmas Shortbread, Bettys very own Hot Chocolate made from the finest quality Venezuelan cocoa beans with Madagascan vanilla, A Betty’s cup to drink my hot chocolate from and A Tea Coffee & Treats Gift Bag. Included in our gift bag was a book about the story of Bettys and it’s wonderful history, I even treated myself to a little book called “Who Was Betty” a whimsical collection of tall stories with a foreword from none other than HRH Prince Charles, but I did indeed find myself asking “just who was Betty?” and if you simply can’t chose as they really do have so many wonderful things to choose from you can always purchase Bettys gift vouchers.
You can order online, call Bettys, visit their shops or contact them via email, all details of which you can find by clicking HERE. I should tell you that the UK mainland last order date is Wednesday 21st December and all other Delivery & Information can be obtained by clicking on this link.
Having been fortunate to have attended this event I can confirm that Christmas certainly is magical with Bettys, and whilst as I’ve mentioned above that I don’t normally think about Christmas until the very end of November at least, I am already busy planning our Christmas table, ordering gifts and treats for friends, family and of course myself from Bettys with the item top of my list being Bettys Snowman Chocolate Cake.
As much as I love the idea of a traditional Christmas cake I’m a chocolate cake “kinda gal” far more so than a fruit cake one. For years I have wondered about getting a chocolate Christmas cake and then I spotted Bettys Snowman Chocolate cake made with their Swiss Grand Cru chocolate with chocolate buttercream and raspberry preserve. Keep one for me please Bettys xoxo
