Ok so someone please tell me where this year has gone! I cannot believe that as I begin to write this post it’s the very last day of November which means clearly tomorrow is December and a very important day in our house, our elf arrives!
You’ll know if you have children or will at least have heard of I’m sure, elf on the shelf. Tiggy’s brothers affectionately named ours “Jingle Bell Joey” a couple Christmases ago when he first arrived, although this year we await his arrival with trepidation as last year to “remove him to safety” I placed him in the kitchen chandelier and the following morning at breakfast we could smell burning, yes that would be “Jingle Bell Joey’s” foot!! The children are very excited about him returning overnight tonight and that reminds me, I’d best go fish him out of his box ready for when they wake in the morning. So magical!!
But seriously, where did November go?! It’s as if I’ve blinked and it’s gone. This month started with my husband (Tiggy’s daddy) and I shooting off to Venice for a weekend, something I’ve not done before is to leave the children, and whilst I was anxious about doing so we had a great time, and so much so on our flight home my husband asked “where next?” and we booked a trip the following day to Prague which we’ll do next April around our anniversary. We promised each other that we’d make more time for just us and I think it’s important especially as we’re a good team he and I, and our children will benefit from happy parents I’m sure.
Tiggy is growing oh so fast, becoming more steady on her feet and can communicate incredibly cutely now in that when she wants something she’ll make a big fuss to get your attention and reach for your hand so as to lead you to whatever it is she wants. Super sweet! We celebrated Tiggy’s eldest brother Finlay’s 7th birthday this month too which made for lots of partying, wearing party clothes, oh and wielding a laser gun with the best of them at Fin’s laser party!
Tiggy’s also perfected the art of the tantrum when having lead you to what she wants and she can’t have it, usually chocolate, she has a little bit of a “meltdown” shall we say. Tiggy has quickly learned where her brother’s stash their chocolate in the fridge or their favourite toys in various hiding places away from her, especially of course their small pieces of Lego which Tiggy makes a beeline for.
Tiggy’s speech is also progressing and whilst she can clearly understand things you say as she reacts to them, she can’t speak as such yet but one of her favourite phrases right now is “William where are you” which she says as we collect him from nursery and wait for him to come out.
Her relationship with each of her brothers is also super sweet. I often find one of them with a protective arm around her, or explaining something to her, or showing her how something works. Woe betide them though if she doesn’t get her own way, she’s also learned to lash out at them almost in frustration that she can’t communicate. She’s caught William a treat several times but such good boys they are, they never retaliate just some tears now and again with my trying to explain to a 17 month old Tiggy that that behaviour is unacceptable.
We’ve had some wonderful fun this month and have explored lots of lovely places.
Tiggy has enjoyed some wonderful collaborations this month with some fabulous companies; Munchkin bathtime and feeding, Bloom & Wild, Botanic Garden of Wales, The Great British Baby Company (blog post to follow), and Little Maldod, some of which have entailed a couple of trips here and there, one such being a magical trip to Harrogate and you can read all about it by clicking HERE and we’ve some more to come next month which I’m very excited about.
With the weather having been so lovely these past few days, wonderful cold, crisp, bright days, my favourite kind of days, we’ve been able to head out after school for some fresh air and a walk before returning home for dinner. Our first such evening was to a local Christmas tree farm where we saw some reindeer and the fading light was so pretty.
The second such evening was to our local Wetlands to feed some ducks where Tiggy slept initially and loved seeing the ducks once awake, but boy was it cold there so we had a quick tour only to find when we jumped back into our car that it was -1.5 degrees!
Another evening we headed for the beach after school and watched the sunset at just 4:10pm! Tiggy’s brothers raced about playing tag while Tiggy tried her best to join in and got a little upset when they ran ahead of her.
It’s been wonderful to watch Tiggy and her brother’s this month and with our impending house move (just 7 sleeps away) it’s good to know they have each other and I pray that is always the case and they maintain such close relationships as they grow, it truly is very special.
So yes, we move home next week, it’ll be all change and we’re all very much looking forward and are excited, but first I have to somehow pack up our current home, plan for Christmas and of course run a household with four small children. Simply put, it’s chaos! But I wouldn’t have it any other way xoxo
