When Tiggy and I were approached by Disney to come on board to celebrate 30 years of the Disney Store I think it’s fair to say that I was “blown away”!!
This is a brand that I have grown up with, as a child I had curtains with The Aristocats on them! and my very first trip to the cinema was to see Lady and The Tramp. I’ve giving away my age now but it was a long time ago, so much so that the cinema is no longer even there!
Disney has played quite some part in my childhood and does now too in my children’s childhood’s. They love to sit and watch Disney movies, they have countless Disney toys and characters that are their childhood “Hero’s”. We’ve taken Tiggy’s brothers to Disneyland Paris twice to celebrate birthdays, Tiggy has yet to go but we’ll take her one day too I’m sure.
One of my favourite childhood films was Bambi and when the package from Disney arrived containing a Bambi toy for Tiggy I was absolutely delighted. The brief was to recreate a scene and having recently moved to an idyllic property, especially so for Tiggy and her brothers, as we have some woodland here, and just this past few days we’ve wandered in there for walks to be met with a carpet of bluebells which has looked so pretty, I figured that I’d seize the opportunity to make the most of the woods given we have the Disney Store’s Bambi toy.
With Tiggy in tow dressed in the sweetest of vintage fairy wings and a tutu, her Bambi toy tucked under her arm, we ventured into the woods for a walk. What I hadn’t appreciated was just how much more magical the woods would be in the fading light as the sun set.
It truly was very magical, Tiggy ran ahead in pursuit of her brothers who’d wanted to come with us for a walk, and as she toddled off in front of me her curls bouncing as she went, I felt such happiness and wonder that the 30th anniversary of the Disney Store had brought us here this evening solely for photographs but I came away with so much more.
Seeing Tiggy delight in showing her Bambi toy the woods, the beautiful sunlight casting shadows and light over Tiggy and Bambi in just the right places, the bluebells all splendid in the fading light, it was one of those occasions I’m so glad I was able to capture on camera, just like Disney itself, it was truly magical.
Given this post is written in collaboration with Disney and the Disney Store, Tiggy was gifted her Bambi toy for which I’d like to say a big thank you to the Disney Store as Tiggy is smitten with it. Aside from an additional huge thank you for this opportunity I’d like to wish the Disney Store a very Happy 30th Anniversary!
If you’d like to recreate your own Disney movie scene I’d love to see them and don’t forget if you share them on social media to use the hashtags #DisneyStoreUK and #DisneyStore30 xoxo
