This month has seen us celebrate Tiggy’s brother Reuben’s 6th birthday which got me to thinking about this time last year as it surely can’t be a whole year since he turned 5!
Reuben is the sweetest little boy, never asks for anything and so proves tricky to buy for or even planning a birthday for so last year, knowing how much he loves wildlife we took him, Tiggy and their brothers to Skomer Island to see the puffins.
I can’t believe it’s a whole year before blogging about our visit there but looking back through the photographs the memories come flooding back, it’s why I’ve always loved to be a little “snap happy” shall we say.
We boarded the boat at Marloes village in Pembrokeshire and travelled the 10 minutes across to Skomer. The boys enjoyed the boat ride and Tiggy at just 11 months old sat nestled tightly into me.
The Island is home to wildlife aplenty and within minutes of arriving we saw wild hares, razorbills and of course puffins. We even saw some seals on the rocks far below, all so beautiful and the Island was awash with bluebells which made for the prettiest of sights, the walk around the Island was simply breath taking.
We took a picnic lunch with us and even some of Reuben’s birthday cake and a candle so we could sing happy birthday to him. He seemed so happy, it was perfect.
I can highly recommend a visit and it’s worth doing your homework before going as to costs and boat times and you can find all that information by clicking here, SKOMER ISLAND.
Hopefully we’ll visit again someday, perhaps when Tiggy a little older, her brothers too so they can appreciate it a little more but we had a great day out here and it was as magical as I’d hoped it would be for Reuben xoxo
