Where the month has passed since Tiggy turned two I just don’t know but I wanted to pop her birthday into a separate blog post from that of our June as I took so many pictures throughout June and her birthday weekend in particular and it’s taken an age to sift through them all, as you’ll tell from this post, there are a lot of photos!
I had prayed for sunshine for Tiggy’s birthday weekend, her actual birthday June 18th fell on a Sunday but coincided with Father’s Day this year and figuring friends and family would want to celebrate their father’s we held Tiggy’s party on the Saturday.
We planned like last year a garden party for her which with her birthday being in June is ideal and whilst last year the weather was changeable so we put our marquee up, this year the forecast was a “heatwave of a weekend” so we didn’t bother and having moved home since last year our garden here has plenty of pretty trees to sit under for shade.
Our new home lends itself well to being outdoors, there’s plenty here to occupy the children and adults alike with a full size lawned tennis court, football pitch and a heated swimming pool not to mention the children’s play frame. Tiggy’s daddy even spent the evening before creating a cricket ground! So this coupled with glorious weather made for the perfect recipe for a perfect garden party.
Tiggy’s daddy enjoys BBQ-ing and it’s an opportunity I jump at as it saves me from cooking so he was in his element cooking away and whilst he did the children played in the sunshine, I got to catch up with friends and family and after we’d demolished the BBQ and party food not to mention endless amounts of pink lemonade we all jumped in the pool.
If you’ve read our Gender Reveal Party Blog Post you’ll know that our cake making lady of choice doesn’t make cakes any more so we used that occasion as a “trial run” to make a cake ourselves (with hilarious results – see the blog post linked within this paragraph), and having moved home and not knowing who to ask to make Tiggy’s birthday cake we again made it ourselves! I am super proud of this as this is not something I’d ever have imagined I’d do but there’s something personable and special about making your little one their birthday cake.
It wasn’t “picture perfect” but it was “imperfectly perfect” and tasted wonderful. Where it had two layers we used the larger layer on the bottom to dissect into party bags following the party on Saturday and kept the top layer so we could have another rendition of “happy birthday” and more blowing of candles on the Sunday. The gorgeous cake topper was kindly provided by Sophia Victoria Joy and a huge thank you to them as it made our cake so much prettier.
Tiggy was gifted very kindly by our favourites Monsoon not one but two gorgeous party dresses! One she wore on the Saturday and we had a smaller gathering on the Sunday for which she wore the second. Both dresses were absolutely gorgeous, so incredibly pretty and Tiggy looked like a little doll in one and a princess in the other. Simply beautiful although the temperatures soared so high on the Saturday that we popped Tiggy into another favourite outfit from Monsoon as was a little cooler for her to race about our garden in.
Our woodland here leant itself as the perfect fairytale backdrop for photographs on the evening of her birthday and Tiggy was clearly a very happy little birthday girl singing “happy birthday” endlessly and you can watch a little clip of her singing as we walked back from the woods which you can watch on Instagram HERE.
Monsoon also very kindly gifted Tiggy some wonderful bows for her hair, and I’d like to take this opportunity to say thank you so much to the very lovely people at Monsoon.
Tiggy’s fabulous birthday balloons including the most pretty one filled with pretty pink feathers and the most gorgeous of princess tails on it from our “go to” balloon company were again incredibly generously gifted to Tiggy from Bubblegum Balloons and a huge thank you to them, everyone loved them!
We tied the multi coloured balloons from Bubblegum Balloons through the garden benches making for a pretty setting for everyone to eat their birthday lunch and at the end of the evening once everyone had left Tiggy’s daddy and I set them free into the sky and stood and watched with his arms wrapped tightly around me thankful as to how incredibly lucky we are to have Tiggy, a beautiful family and the most wonderful friends.
It really was the most perfect birthday weekend to celebrate Tiggy’s second birthday xoxo.
