This month began with the death of my grandmother, Tiggy’s Great-Grandmother on October 1st. It was terribly sad news but not unexpected as my grandmother was a remarkable woman who lived to be 96, nearly 97 years of age. She lead a wonderful life and being born in 1920 I loved looking at pictures of her in the changing fashions over the years and listening to her recounting stories which spanned generations. When it came to her passing it wasn’t a sad affair, more a celebration of her life, a woman who achieved so much and raised a family, a true inspiration and a privilege to have called her my grandmother.
When we were told the news about my grandmother we were enjoying a “babymoon” at Barnsley House and Spa in The Cotswolds which I’m grateful for as was just what I needed and such a beautiful place full of roses which are particularly poignant in terms of my grandmother as she had a garden full of them, a rosebush of which I fell over as a child and we laughed on many occasion as to how on earth I’d managed that. We had more sadness this month, with a personal anniversary that I don’t think I will ever want to discuss or talk about publicly, the loss of a baby a year ago and the reason why I so desperately wanted our little Pip who almost to the day one year later entered our lives and immediately filled a void. I’ll write a separate post on the arrival of little Pip shortly but she has replaced such sadness this month with pure joy. Joy that she’s here safe and sound, that she’s perfect and Tiggy, her brothers too absolutely dote on her and it’s been wonderful to watch them all caring, loving and “fussing” over her. Tiggy gets particularly upset when little Pip cries and races to her telling her “it’s alright Pip, it’s alright” whilst gently smoothing her hair, it really is the sweetest.
This month has seen Tiggy suddenly appear very much older than she is and a lot bigger too in comparison to a newborn. She’s taken on the role of big sister like a duck to water, seems completely “un-phased” by it all and is still full of smiles and happy. If anything Tiggy has been a little too “hands on” with Pip as she wants to help dress, undress, bath, cuddle, kiss and even feed the baby! (I’m breastfeeding which has lead to a few very sweet and funny moments with Tiggy lifting her top and looking at herself inquisitively).
Being October and the Autumn here upon us and my personal favourite season, we couldn’t have timed little Pip’s arrival any better had we tried it seems, as October saw Tiggy’s brothers on half term which coincided with my husband on paternity leave so the whole family, now all seven of us were home together and could go enjoy some Autumnal family fun. We’ve jumped in crunchy leaves, played at conkers, toasted marshmallows on a campfire to name but a few.
Once Tiggy’s brothers returned to school we’ve taken “our girls” out for breakfast, to play so Tiggy could have some fun and we stumbled upon a newly installed Christmas scene quite by chance that Tiggy was enthralled with at a garden centre.
In fact we’ve enjoyed lots of outdoor fresh air fun and as the football and rugby seasons have begun Tiggy’s also spent quite some time “pitchside” watching her brothers play which Tiggy seems to have enjoyed.
It’s certainly been a very busy month and we’ve collaborated with and agreed to collaborate with some wonderful companies this month so keep an eye out for some blog posts detailing it all, one such collaboration was with the Gro Company and you can see our review of their Gro Clock by clicking on this link: The Gro Clock From The Gro Company.
Tiggy this month has showed what a wonderfully caring, loving and wonderful natured little girl she is with the arrival of little Pip. She’s melted my heart with the sweetest moments and made me feel (as always) incredibly proud of her, even if she wouldn’t wear her Halloween costume for love nor money, so I couldn’t resist but put this one of little Pip onto our Instagram feed.
We’ve had such fun this month and with lots planned for November; Tiggy’s eldest brother Fin’s 8th birthday, Bonfire night which turned out to be great fun, I’ll pop it all into the November post, a trip to London with The Disney Store to look forward to, it should be a great month ahead xoxo.
