December saw us as a family kindly invited to Penally Abbey Country House Hotel and Restaurant by the incredibly lovely owners there whom I’m now proud to call friends.
We were welcomed in with open arms, all seven of us now since our little Pip’s arrival, certainly a very large family and family friendly is certainly what they are here. They were so accommodating, so understanding of what it takes to occupy and entertain children, with games provided for them to play, and I say “accommodating” as our lot are a competitive lot and even with the noise made whilst playing the games, they were very “understanding” (and forgiving). As I say, it’s a very family friendly place which is unsurprising when you discover that Penally Abbey is owned and run by a very lovely family who are all too aware of what it takes to enjoy family time and enjoy the experience of dinner with little ones in tow.
Warm, welcoming, inviting, a most beautiful building set in an idyllic location. I had serious window envy here with the views from them equally as impressive, you can see right down to the sea! The rooms are beautiful, the décor making you feel quite at home, a very elegant home that is, yet relaxed enough to truly enjoy. I’ve even taken away with me some inspiration to decorate our own home.
Wow, just wow! Absolutely delicious, even the children cleared their plates and I could quite cheerfully have eaten mine twice over. The food was fresh, tasted amazing and whilst I’m no food critic I enjoy eating out and about and this was up there with my all time faves. Take it from me you won’t be disappointed and the children clearly enjoyed theirs too, and funnily enough our youngest son William only today asked when we could go back, clearly a hit as he’s a fussy little one.
Tiggy discovered chocolate coins here…
Christmas At Penally Abbey
Our visit took place in the run up to Christmas and it was truly magical here, with Christmas trees at every turn and a wonderful atmosphere from the lovely staff. The children were very much in awe of the incredibly tall Christmas tree in the one room with Tiggy keen to explore every inch of the tree. We pulled crackers, spoke for an age with the owners, I even breastfed little Pip here with them quite happy to make me feel comfortable, they really do go to some lengths here to accommodate their guests. They even hold weddings here and if it’s a winter wedding you’re after complete with snow and the weather won’t oblige then they’ll even provide that!
If you ever find yourself in Tenby, Pembrokeshire then I’d highly recommend Penally Abbey Country House Hotel and Restaurant, with its warm welcome, impressive surroundings, wonderful food, it really is a fabulous place to relax, unwind and enjoy whether it’s a gorgeous dinner, an afternoon tea or just some coffee and cake and a catch up with friends and you never know, you may see us there as this place truly feels like home from home! xoxo
